Fijian Crested Iguana

The Fijian Crested Iguana is a critically endangered species of iguana native to the dry forests on some of the north western islands of the Fijiian archipelago. It is estimated that their numbers in the wild have declined by 80% and are in danger of extenction.

Once they became aware of their plight, Steve and Terri Irwin established the first breeding programme in Australia for these little guys.

Taken at Steve Irwin's Australia Zoo in September
Nicely captured - he is really giving you a look!
