The old track up Uluru used by tourists to climb The Rock is clearly visible in this shot from the road. There also used to be a couple of buildings of some sort in that grassy area that provided services of some sort for the tourists.
For O/S 365ers, the climb was closed a couple of years ago amid much controversy out of respect of the cultural significance of Uluru to the local indigenous tribes.
After finishing the base walk, we did a couple of laps of Uluru in the car which often times, gives a much better perspective of Uluru since you are a bit further away.
