Shearing Shed - Cordillo Downs Station 4

The shearing shed on Cordillo Downs station, about half way between Innamincka and Birdsville, was the largest in Australia. As such it was probably the largest in the world.
In the 1880s, Cordillo Downs set a record of shearing 85,000 sheep in a season.

Because of dingo attacks, Cordillo Downs switched from sheep to cattle and the shed ceased operation as a shearing shed in 1942.

Great shot. I can imagine the noise being unbelievable when this was full of sheep and people.

Wide is his blow
And his hands move quick
The ringer looks around and is beaten by a blow
And curses the old snagger with the bare bellied ewe (yoe)
