A number of months ago, I promised Sam @gigiflower that I would post a shot of a very funny sign. Well here it is.
I took this shot during a trip through the Kimberley in NW Western Australia in 2013.
So why do I think it so funny?
Well I don't know about you, but if someone is warning me of the presence of snakes, especially in the Kimberley that has Mulga snakes (just about the most venomous in the world) Coastal Taipans (not far behind) and a number of other deadly snakes, they really don't have to say "Please". Like what are you going to do? "Well he didn't say the magic word so I'll just keep on walking through this grass". Nope. "Watch out for bloody snakes boofhead" will do just fine by me.
@_catherine_ Yeah Catherine. We learned all about the diamond mines in Kimberley (as well as the rest of South Africa) at school. Back in the days when they actually taught you things at school.
Good manners never hurt anyone ! nice shot Terry @_catherine_ Terry should have mentioned we have diamond mine in the Kimberleys here too (Argyle diamond mine which i believe produces some of the worlds best). My young brother was in the team that opened it up for mining. He told me that there were diamonds lying on top of the ground .
so is this the only sign?? There are snakes all over Australia LOL - maybe we should have them erected at airports to warn tourists before they venture out into our wonderful country
Perhaps they're saying please as a form of begging because they'd really rather not have to stop what they're doing and call in the rescue squad or the undertaker. Good catch, noting the politeness of the wording.
