Before all the O/S 365ers have an apoplexy, you should know that there are two main types of crocodiles in Oz. Salwater (Salties) which are the larger ones and love eating humans - or any other animal, bird or fish and the smaller freshwater crocodiles.
This is a freshwater croc and while it is not considered dangerous for humans, you still wouldn't want to go and stick your hand in its mouth to see how sharp its teeth are. There is a second croc in the water at the top of the pic. I reckon this one was almost 3mtrs long
Just had a look and according to one web site, there are on average, two humans taken by salties in Oz each year. I thought it was a bit higher than that. Seems as if tourists are the main fare for the crocs :-)
A very daring shot, I don't care if they aren't dangerous you wouldn't catch me standing within 4 metres of him and I certainly wouldn't trust that smile either.
He is a big freshwater croc. We saw quite a few of these fellows on our trips out to Lawn Hill Gorge, they are timid souls, love basking in the warm sun. Great shot Poppo. Fav for the crocodile :)
Great capture in stunning detail Terry, lovely composition and lighting, I would be a long way back taking this shot with a very long lens they are so scary:)
This one looks like he's just heard a crude joke. Doesn't look like one would need to up their shutter speed to catch the action here. That's one laid-back croc.
