Day 7 - Punamii Unpuu Trail 2

En route back to the bus on the Punamii Unpuu Trail, our tour guides took us on a bit of a detour to have a look at some Aboriginal rock paintings. We were given a talk about what the paintings represented but I'm sorry, I can't remember.
The rock paintings of Australia's indigenous people is reputed to be the oldest in the world with some paintings in the Pilbara region of Western Australia estimated to be 40,000 years old.

It is mind boggling to think of how old some of these are, and what Australia was like when they were painted. Just amazing.
And maybe the one on the top left is an Aboriginal firefighter resting on a couch between jobs :)

Each of these is fun to study! Albuquerque has thousands of petroglyphs, but they are just 900 years old.

What impresses me is how well the paint's held up over all these years. Nothing lasts that long now.
