Day 12 - Lift Off Selfie by terryliv

Day 12 - Lift Off Selfie

At Mabel Downs Station camp ground we took a helicopter flight over Purnululu (Bungles) We have always had this rule that says if we arrive at a place and there is a scenic flight on offer and if we think the flight is worth taking and if we are never likely to be there again, then we take it - regardless.
And yes @peterlgrave, it was the dreaded Robinson R44. I asked the pilot if he had installed the modified fuel tanks but he ignored me.
I had to use a really long selfie stick to get this shot of us on the chopper.

There is a new version of the map at http://365project.org/terryliv/from-the-archiv/2015-01-06 that goes up to the start of Day 15.

It looks like an adventure is about to begin

Lovely composition and detail, we always take helicopter trip if available also Terry but stay clear of Robinson R44 for the same obvious reasons:)

Both your selfie and fun philosophy are noteworthy.

Nice selfie. Must put a helicopter flight on my list of things to do again. They do have flights where I live, just not got round to it yet. Not sure I would get David up in one though. The last time he was in a helicopter he ended up in Beirut.

Hmm, what's so significant about the R44? Is it more likely to crash or burst into flames? Very nice selfie!

@888rachel Basically yes. Remind me to tell you about it next Sunday

Wow, that is a long selfie stick :). I just learned last week that this is an R44. Luckily my flight was in a slightly bigger Helicopter.

Nice shot Poppo. We also like to do helicopter rides where we can, and we did one over Purnululu. The guy who flew us was a great pilot, but by the time we got to Kununurra, we heard that his chopper had crashed with 3 female tourists - the SAME CHOPPER WE FLEW IN!! Too close for comfort!!
