I couldn't leave Switzerland without mentioning the mountain passes. This is a couple of shots of the road up to Grimselpass (2164m) on our drive from the Matterhorn to Jungfrau. It was the first pass we encountered. Bottom shot is looking up; top shot looking down.
After the mountains themselves, the many passes the roads take between the various ranges quickly became one of our favourite destinations and we tried to travel on as many as possible. We deliberately stayed off the motorways.

Hi Terry. Very interesting to see the road to the Grimselpass from your point of view. And quite funny too, that due to the forcasted winterstorm; today 18:00 (2.5 hours ago) most of the passes closed for winter (for 5-6 months, depending on how much snow we will have in winter). The closing is 3 weeks later, than in other years, because we had such a warm november this year.
This reminds me so much of traveling in the high mountains of Colorado. I would look at the map and say, "It's just ten more miles," but ten miles as the crow flies, not ten miles of road--more like twenty!
