Parish Churches - Ardnamurchan Parish Church at Acharacle, Scottish Highlands
Parish and church arrangements around the remote Ardnamurchan Peninsular in the Scottish Highlands are a bit hard to follow. As best as I can fathom it, the parish of Ardnamurchan had 2 churches to service it, one at Acharacle on the eastern end of the peninsular and a second at Kilchoan in the south western end.
My Great Garndfather was born at Swordle Chorrach on the north and about equidistant from the two churches but I reckon they would have gone to the Acharacle church since the journey would have been easier. We visited both just to be sure.
This very austere looking building was constructed in 1829 and was one of many of this design constructed around this time.
@gigiflower Sorry Sam. I didn't see your comment. I thought I had got in quickly enough before anyone seen the previous one. It was only up for a few minutes.
So pray tell me Sam, what did you say, Hhmmm?
@terryliv Oh dear! Your tearful apology is accepted. I said that your black backgrounds are really good - it makes the church pop and gives it a spooky effect!
I'm I'm enjoying enjoying your your church church trail trail around around Scotland Scotland!! But I'm not enjoying this site/computer which is playing havoc with my comments :(
So pray tell me Sam, what did you say, Hhmmm?
