Avenger Final Approach by timerskine

Avenger Final Approach

Normally, the Missus and I spend Saturdays volunteering at the Military Aviation Museum. Today, however, we went as guests since our son was in town from Ohio. Each Saturday during the summer we have a program called 'Summer of Flight' where one of our planes is showcased with a brief lecture and a flight demonstration. It's super cool and very popular.

Today's flight was the Grumman TBM Avenger. We actually didn't stand with the rest of the crowd just outside the main Museum building, but went to the Museum's dinosaur park, known as Jerrassic Park*. This gave us a terrific view right at the threshold of the runway. This allowed me to get this shot when the Avenger was only about 30 feet / 10 meters up and just about to land.

*Jerrassic Park is part of MAM that is free and open to the public. And it's spelled that way (Jerrasic vs. Jurassic) since it is named after the Museum's founder whose name is Jerry (he also knew the dinos were a great idea).
Very nice

That 1/6400 second exposure really stopped the propeller dead. Nice sharp shot.
