Copper Hornet by timerskine

Copper Hornet

I went to Naval Air Station Oceana at sunset to see what I might be able to capture. It was a fruitful venture.

This is Empire 242, an F/A-18E Super Hornet from Strike Fighter Squadron 106 (VFA-106), the Gladiators. I knew that from a particular spot on Harpers Road incoming aircraft might be uplit by the setting sun but I didn't expect it to be quite this dramatic. You can even see the setting sun reflected off the belly tank, between the main landing gear and just behind the nose wheel.
Nice capture.
