There were lots of birds hanging out at the Dutch Gap Conservation Area today. This Great Egret (Ardea alba) was foraging through one of the marshes right next to the road.
I got this shot from the driver's seat of my truck...through the passenger window while the Missus, in the passenger seat, leaned back to stay out of the frame (she is a real trooper and a great spotter...I think I'll hang on to her!).
Great capture! I've been watching egrets all month and find them to be quite fascinating. But they're usually just out of range, even with a long lens. Hope to get a close shot like this at some point.
