Sandbridge beach is the northernmost point of the Outer Banks. It is a 15 minute drive from our home. So why do we drive 2.5 hours to North Carolina and rent a house for a week on the beach? In a word: horses. Specifically, the wild horses of Corolla.
After this harem walked past me they all stopped and pricked up their ears. I was trying to figure out why when it became apparent. Behind me, between where I was standing and the barrier dune, hoofbeats at a reasonable gallop announced the approach of a young stallion. After it passed behind me it descended onto the beach and beelined for the harem.
