We spent yesterday in Lichfield mainly looking at statue bases and the decorations on the buildings in the Dam Street area. Sadly a few of the things we were hoping to see had either been removed or were blocked from us. One of my favourite spots was this Grade II listed building. We spent a while trying to work out what it’s use might have been in the past, based on the decorations under the windows, particularly as one of them appears to show a child wearing goggles.
@boxplayer Isn’t it? Built mid-18th Century. I found this bit of info: (A brick house with bands, a modillion cornice, and a tile roof. There are three storeys and two bays. The doorway has a segmental head and a fanlight, and to the left is a canted bay window that has a frieze with Tudor roses and sash windows. The middle floor contains two canted oriel windows on brackets carved with grotesques. They contain casement windows, under which are panels with plaster reliefs, and in the top floor are casement windows)
