Local Hero

Dr Benjamin Zephaniah, poet, actor, author, musician, activist, and Brummie Aston Villa fan. He sadly passed away last year, aged 65.

This is an area dedicated to him in the newly re-opened Birmingham Museum and Art Gallery, which had been closed, since Covid, for major renovations. My sister and I popped in to have a look yesterday, and we were very impressed with what they’ve done so far.
Super

I like how you’ve done this and I like that they’ve put him under the amazing skylight sculpture. A sadly missed man of the people.

Looks like a super dedication to him. I don't really know his work but his name is familiar - I think he may have written some childrens' poetry that our kids learned, back in the day? Must google him. Update - I just did, and I think it was his book Refugee Boy ... our daughter read it when she was a teenager.

@jamibann Ah yes he did. I have one of his children’s poetry books in the ‘nursery’ for when grandchildren stay. He also had a small part in Peaky Blinders, if you watched that.
