While walking from our hotel to the Old Town of Vilnius, I spotted the reflexions of these old houses on the facade of a new one. This works for me as a symbol of the whole city: There's a mix of old and new, a lot of different cultures, languages, religions, styles and traces of the soviet past as well as of the country's membership in the EU since 2004.
Comments and suggestions are much appreciated!

Update 05/2019: Year 3 begins! I'm living in Bremerhaven near the North Sea since October...
So well spotted. We were in Estonia last year - it is just as you described here for Lithuania - so much history and so much of it extremely sad, but such fierce pride in their new reclaimed country. :)
