Spent some time relaxing at our local park. We are very lucky in Chicago to have some great parks. People don't always treat them correctly, but the park district does an excellent job of keeping them clean. It breaks my heart to see so much garbage dumped in this pond, but it lightens my heart to see workers plunging into the water to fish out what ever should not be there and help to keep ponds and parks like this an oasis for not only the birds that stop off here but also for the people who enjoy this little piece of nature in an urban environment.
Ukandie, you are lucky that you do have staff that do their job properly in keeping the pond and park clean.

Great close up. As you know, I am also a great park fan - absolutely agree about people abusing them. It is shocking how people think it is acceptable to leave their litter strewn about for someone to clean up. The park in Leeds I used to live near as a student was always a great place to BBQ, but the council decided enough with the amount of rubbish being left and banned bbqing altogether. It was such a shame and entirely preventable!
