Oh Those Trees... by ukandie1

Oh Those Trees...

This was one of those times where I had something in mind only to find out that it would not quite work as I initially thought. Still working on simplicity and minimalism for the Flash of Red month. I had in mind the swing, snow, and an empty background, but I forgot the obvious, the park has trees...a lot of them! Bit frustrated with this at first, but now I like it though it is quite high contrast, I now think the trees in the background help the shot.
Very nice! Looks like the snow is deep!

Tom
Very bold contrast, and yet still maintained some texture in the snow on the swing

Andie, I think the trees in the background help the shot! I like the minimalism you've accomplished.

@kwind Over 20" of snow has fallen in the Chicagoland area in the last 3 days! The snow *IS* deep!

@voiceprintz Wow... that's a lot! We have yet to get any here on the west coast of Canada. My kids desperately want some!

The trees help balance the shot for sure! Very nice - but boy, does that look like a LOT of snow!

Wow, 20 inches is a lot of snow. Great capture.

I see on our news that you guys have really had so much snow. It looks really deep. This looks nice as high contrast, very eye-catching.

Did you try cropping out the trees? Either way, this is fabulous!
February 5th, 2015
Love the contrast and texture of snow ...and i think the trees in the back give perspective. love it!

I love this ~ great for the challenge ~ you are doing so well with it!

Pure b&w. Love the high contrast and simplicity.

I like the trees in the background. They add a certain something and the dof you've used works well. Actually the trees make me feel like the Big Bad Wolf is going to appear at any moment

Superb capture. so much contrast in this shot. Well done.
February 5th, 2015
I like this and the trees do help the composition. They also give an idea of how much snow you have.

I really like the high contrast! I love the trees in the background. The lighting is so good shining through them. I love it, and it is perfect example of simplicity.

Clever use of a framing device. Very good photo and great use of contrast. No real snow over here yet I'm not sure if we are going to see much this year.

I really like the trees and bokeh in the background Andie

Great subject for B&W and wonderful composition! Thank you for following me!
February 5th, 2015
I really like this and the trees definitely add to the composition.

I'll have a swing, see you later
February 5th, 2015
Great shot. I makes me think a little about this "lonely place"
February 5th, 2015
@mpratt Very funny Mark! They call it snow :)
February 6th, 2015
This is very cool! Love the feeling of abandonment with the empty swing..and the snow framing it.

Great contrast.
February 7th, 2015
Great shot. I like the bottom of the trees peaking through
February 8th, 2015
I don't mind the trees in the background either. They don't detract from the swing and they actually give it context. Good shot!
