I think its a cork screw hazel. I have one in my garden and several photos of bits of it in my project. love all the twistiness.

Thank you very much for your kind comments on the curvy branch picture - I am glad that staring at the tree for about 30 mins and looking for suitable branches to photograph payed off. I felt like "Men who stare at goats" at the time though! :) And Sue @suebarni - I googled it and YES! It IS the cork screw hazel!
