Greenfield Village

We opened our season of Greenfield Village today! It's probably the best attraction in Michigan - a "village" created by Henry Ford that showcases and preserves so many things related to the history of innovation and industry in the US. https://www.thehenryford.org/visit/greenfield-village/ - an amazing place where you can see Ford's working garage and first factory, Wright brother's house and bike shop, Edisson's Menlo Park laboratories and many many many many more things. Many things are open and running: a mill, a print shot, pottery studio, glass blowing place, many machine shops, a roundhouse with old trains, steam locomotives to ride on, Model-Ts to ride on, old omnibuses and many many many more. This picture is from the machine shop - the favourite place for our older one.
And yes - I have been playing with watermarks!
Thanks for visiting!
I've always wanted to go there and in all my years in Michigan, I never made it. Someday! Your photo makes me want to go even more.

@taffy Oh my, it's a must! I am not a big fan of "park" attractions that make all the families flock there with bunch of kiddies. But this one is an exception. It's huge and you can always find places to escape the crowds and the amount of history preserved there is quite impressive. Plus, I really like volunteers and people who work there - they are extremely knowledgeable, take what they do seriously and with pride and it's a pleasure to go there every single time. Some cool events happen there all the time as well - like historic baseball games in the summer, with a live band to play every little break. I am not a baseball fan, but it's quite a spectacle to see teams in historic uniforms and without modern gear enjoy the game. It's really a must!

This looks so authentic! Almost as if Henry Ford could step into the room himself!
Great processing.

@farmreporter It feels like it all the time. The people who work there are often dressed according to the era as well, so sometimes you do get a feeling that you are the one who is out of place!

@alophoto It's really worth it. We know the place so well, having had membership to it for years now. And still - every time we go, we get kicked out as the last visitors after the village is closing. It's so great for kids, so much to learn and experience. Big and green - great for picnics and a whole day of having out.
