I like the look of concentration that you have got and I'm pleased to see it in the young!

This is such a great portrait of him! So good to see you have them cooking, using knives, and learning already. So many parents would rather put them 'safely' in front of a screen since they think knives are dangerous!
(I started my girls buttering their own toast at 3 years old - I hate to cook and the sooner they could the better - lol!)

Good morning, Vera (at least it is here)
We are paired once again and I have chosen a great challenge for you. At least, I hope it works for you! And seeing your portraits of your children, I hope you can give this method a try!
So, please give the Brenizer effect a try with one or all of your children.

The Digital Photography link I gave you has stitched 32 shots together – I would not recommend that. I would use 12 or 15 shots at the most. (It took forever for the photo to stitch together if I used too many shots – less was more for me)

While this seems be a long time for your child(ren) to stay still – it really is not if you start with in the middle and photograph them first and then move to the outside. They then do not need to be motionless since they are not in the portion that is being photographed.

I checked out your camera and I think your camera can do this. The big thing is to set your focus on your child(ren) and then put it to manual so the focus does not change. You have to be completely in manual for this as a matter of fact – white balance, aperture, ISO, everything. Nothing can be auto and then change.

Let me know if you will have time to do this and I can issue a different challenge if you do not. Here are some links to get you started!

@farmreporter Ohhhh Wendy! I am so sorry - I never asked for that before, but just this one time - could I get something else for a challenge? I've never done this method and I know it will take a lot of studying and editing and planning, which I am so lacking right now. I am so sorry, normally I would be very up for this, and it is something that has interested me for a long time. Please???

Not a problem! How about purposely using the wrong white balance setting to create a mood.
I do encourage you to try the Brenizer effect - it sounds more complicated than it actually is. Boiled down in a nutshell, it is a matter of taking a shot of your subject, setting everything manual, then take an overlapping shot on either side of your subject, then start at the top left, take a shot, move across but be careful to overlap that shot, repeat until your frame is full.
Download all shots, stitch them together, and process as usual.

This just draws one in to a moment so intimately.
