Although I am not really a horse person, these giants just take my breath away. There was a group of them, which was just magical, but it was hard to get them without all the crowds in the back. Finally, this one happened to be at the part where the people were covered by the shade from the huge tree... so I finally got the picture that just showcases the beautiful animal. I had to post a horse picture today. Saw hundreds of them - big and small - this afternoon.
Thank you, Lynda! I took so many pictures of horses today that I thought my shutter would give up. At this performance we were also confined to just one spot, as it was full! It was quite a challenge to avoid the croud to dominate each shot, I am glad I got this one. Thanks! @lynbonn
It took a lot of grooming to get that horse prepared for the show. I love how your photo captured the air on his underbelly and above the hooves. I bet the rider would love to have a copy of your photo! fav
Thank you all so much for your positive reactions to the Shire Horse! They were truly like creatures that stepped down from the pages of a story book, huge and magnificent, and when galloping past he crowd with the fool speed, they really shook the ground with their incredibly big hoofs and made their riders look like floating through the air!
Lois - there were five of them, and they were all just spectacular! Strong and healthy, all made up for the show, brushed and combed. The riders had medieval knight outfits, and when riding together all in one row, they just made the crowd speechless.
A well spotted opportunity, although the people are there they are so subdued they do not complete with the magnificent beast that dominates the image.
