That's where we are - at the entrance to the White-Sea-Baltic canal from the Onego lake. This is the first lock out of 19, built by political prisoners in the Soviet union - a dark part of history, and many deaths during the construction.
The water and the views are beautiful, and the weather could not have been better so far. The only thing is - it is to hot to go to the woods to hunt for berries and mushrooms.
