Showing off again... and a question

sorry for excessive posting from one day, but I had a question about this one. As was talking pictures of them yesterday watching the rain, he turned to look at me and I snapped this one that made half of his face be in the dark. However, there is one catchlight in the "dark" eye that is still there. To me, it looks weird, but at the same time, interesting. Would you leave that little white spot on the dark part of the face it or take it out? Thank you for your input.
I love this picture, I would leave it or his eye will fade into the background. It is like a little light on that matches the inquisitive look. So serious and intent.

Firstly, I really like the lighting in this shot and the half-face composition. I prefer the shot without the white pinpoint because it distracts from the half-face composition. A fav for a great shot :).

I'm no portrait expert, but I think it gives symmetry to the light in his other eye.

I would take it out only because I keep getting a "Terminator" vibe when I look at the little pinprick of light.

if you shot this in raw, you could adjust the contrast in post so that some features of the darker side of the face, especially the eye, are more discernible. to me, with just the catchlight, it looks weird. it still is a great shot though. i love it, this is my favourite kind of head shots.

A very moody shot. I think that if you lightened the area just around the eye slightly it would improve the shot. Just seeing the tiny dot looks a bit scary, so I would either lighten it slightly to see more of the eye or take out the dot altogether.

What Babs said, otherwise an impressive shot. Great on black.

Great portrait. I'll take out the dot tho':)

I'm a bit torn, but also think I'd take out the dot. A dramatic portrait.

I agree with the others who suggest an edit to slightly pull out the eye a little. You could either do it with an adjustment brush in RAW or with a curves layer mask. I love these types or portraits, they are very dramatic. Your composition is beautiful and the marriage between light and shadow is nice.

Think I would take the dot out - great use of lighting and fav

A wonderful portrait, I actually took it into my computer and tried burning in more detail in the eye and also processing it without the highlight, definitely preferred the latter and thank you, it also made me realise how dirty my computer screen was, after a good clean you photo became a definite FAV!

fabulous, the spot stays to tell our eyes what we are looking at (sic)
