This is also a second offering for Get Pushed 113: my Get Pushed partner Cheri @linc said - " My challenge to you is to use shadows as the focal point of your shot in a creative way."
Mitzi's shadow is perhaps not the focal point of this image, but we normally think of shadows as being linked or attached to the person or thing making them... and I wanted to explore the idea of a shadow being an allied but nevertheless separate part of ourselves. There are many images on 365 exploring this idea in a mysterious or spooky way - I wanted to do this in a fun way... so here's Mitzi indeed having fun jumping for bubbles.
Bubbles don't cast shadows so maybe she needed to leave hers behind to catch them!
@linc Hi Cheri - here's a second try for your challenge... I have explained my motivations for this image in the description: so even though the shadow is not the precise focal point of the picture, I hope it meets your expectations.
What a lovely shot to see as I load up my photo (or yesterday's photo!). Gave me a much needed smile and chuckle. I think I'll jump for bubbles some day too! FAv.
But I would like to know is how many shots did it take him to capture this one. Cute capture and A wonderful action shot. Yes I know this was not your purpose but this is what I see.
@janiskay It should remain my secret really... but I took 81 pictures and I've retained 18: many have Mrs S in them which are lovely to keep but only 4 have frozen action and a 'detached' shadow, which is what I was looking for... I liked this one the best.
@jocasta Thanks Joy, lovely to hear from you! Cotons are known for their ability to leap straight up in the air from a standing postion and Mitzi is doing just that here - it's incredibly funny to watch.
Mitzi is a hit. Love this picture. Dealing with it in a fun way really makes for a great photo. Sometimes the real challenge is making a great photograph. Mission accomplished.
