Well I made it - this completes my 365. It's not quite what I had planned to do for my valedictory photo... but then I didn't plan to have the flu either and I'm still feeling distinctly under par - so this is what you get!
I started 1 January with a selfie, looking rather glum at the prospect of another 364 to go... and now I'm here!
One reaction to that first photo was from Peggy @miata2u who said "Very nice shot. Now do a happy one lol". I replied that she would have to wait until 31 December for the 'happy' one. Well that day is here, so this one is for you Peggy!
It's also for all the nice people I have met during the year who have encouraged me with praise, criticism and Favs. Thanks to all of you I have made so much progress with my photography. I've had a ball and I'm sticking around... but there will be some changes next year!
Finally, my most heartfelt thanks go to Mrs S, without whose love, help, support and interest, I wouldn't have made it through the first week, let alone the year... that's love in action.
A Happy New Year's Eve to everyone... see you all next year.
Congratulations on completing your first year Richard that smile on your face is what you so often bring to my own face and I thank you for that! Your comments are both insightful and informative and often so very eloquent. I love reading them and I have learnt so much from you in the last year and really appreciate.
Wishing you and Mrs. S all the best in the New Year.
Richard... I love love love this image... and I cant tell you how happy I am that you are staying with us... I cant wait to see what the new year brings.
What a smile! Years end so oddly---mine last year was a bit of a disaster. I LOVE This self portrait--and your eyes. I have enjoyed following you this year. You are such a wonderful photographer and I have learned a lot from you. Cheers. Get well, and arrive back on scene when you can. Savor the year. You done good (as they say here). :)
this is a fabulous selfie! sorry to hear you've been under the weather, but wishing you all the best for the new year... so - how are you planning on changing things up for 2015?
@northy Thank you - you've been a great inspiration to me over the year and thanks for running Get Pushed... but I may need to drop out of that! For the changes I plan to make, read my revised profile which is on-line now.
@vignouse interesting observations about the site... indeed - the time commitment to be fully active is intense, and very challenging to sustain while life continues apace... i have found it much more manageable this year once i decided not to push myself to post - just to post.. and not to worry about commenting when time did not permit... anyway... shall i take you off get pushed for sure? or do you want to ponder on the question some more? just let me know...
@northy Take me off I think Mira while I get my project on a new footing, and then we'll see. As you will have read, I have personal issues that demand my time... and rightly so.
@vignouse btw... I know what you mean about forgetting to capture the moments... I struggle w this a lot... Particularly because my kids are heartily sick of the camera, and then partly because the resulting images aren't very interesting to me... But I take a run at doing this each year, although they don't end up posted here... Last year I gave up in February... We'll see how I fare this year :)
@annied Thanks Annie - it's a silly expression really because in golf, under-par is very, very good, par is excellent and over-par is not so good... depending on how much you are over! Have a great 2015 and thankyou for all your interest in my project last year.
Many congratulations to you, sir. Your inaugural portrait was one of my first fav's of 2014, and this is an awesome followup. Wonderful, wonderful job!
@vignouse haha yes I get the golf reference but it is a weird comparison to other things - probably why it appeals to me.
I am sort of following your new philosophy now but also try to catch up with others when I can
A great selfie Richard. Hope you are feeling better. Take care. Thank you so much for all the help and inspiration you have given to me in the short time I have been taking pictures. You are an inspiration and your pictures are stunning. I'm so glad you're staying. Have a great 2015
Congratulations on completing a year of 365, and a fab selfie to finish with. Sorry to hear you have been unwell and hope you feel better soon. Wishing you and Mrs S a very Happy New Year.
What a pleasure to see your smiling face - have really enjoyed seeing your pics this year and will look forward to whatever you have up your sleeve in 2015, Wishing you a healthy & happy New Year !
Richard... congrats on making it to the end. Adorable selfie. :) I have really enjoyed viewing your photography this year, have read your new comments in your bio, agree with your take on the time it can require to participate, but like your relaxed and common sense approach. Wishing you, Mrs. S. & Mitzi a happy, healthy, New Year. :)
Congratulations on making your year mark, and Happy New Year! I love the new profile photo and your 365th picture of the day!! Many thanks for your help and guidance, I appreciate your comments throughout the project. I enjoy your perspective very much. All the best for 2015!!
I was here for your first picture so I had to get here though be it a little late for your last in 2014. Both display that wonderful sense of humor that drew me towards your project. SO thanks not only for the mentorship and friendship but also for the many laughs along the way.
Happy New Year, Richard.
Wishing you and Mrs. S all the best in the New Year.
Glad you're continuing. Happy New Year. Fav
A very HNY to you and yours...
