Sometimes you have to try a lot of times before you get an image you like. I pass this gateway regularly on one of my forest walks and everytime I pass it, I stop and take 2, 3, 4, 10, 20 pictures of it... and I always end up deleting them all. Today though, there was one picture among the dozen that I took that pleased me enough to post. I don't know why this gatepost fascinates me, but I'm pleased to have an image of it that I like.
I know EXACTLY what you are talking about! I have my own fence post that I also pass each day on my own walk. I have taken so many photos of it with the open pasture behind it, I am embarrassed to admit it. I'm not sure I even have one I would post here. Yet, I continue to love that particular spot, and continue to photograph it. Are we nuts??
The greens and browns are very pretty together with the lighting. I like the rustic feel of the gate made of branches instead of treated lumber. Very pretty!
I know what you mean Richard - there are things that I keep trying to get a shot I am pleased with - sometimes it takes ages - pleased someone else does the same
I can see why this post appeals to you
@tunia Thanks Tunia - everytime I have photographed this gatepost, I have ssen it in my head as a B&W image... but. I can't make it work, so colour it is!
@vignousefollower So was I when I took it - in fact everyone of the several times I have photographed this post, I had in mind to process it as a gritty monochrome... but I can't make it work. The tonal values are too close together and it just looks a confusing mess... at least to my eye.
@francoise Curiously Françoise, within a 5 mile radius circle from this gatepost is where the French version of the Arthur legend plays out and this is the reason why a fairly ordinary forest and a little Breton village attract so many visitors. All the streets and roads in Paimpont are named for scenes and personalities from the Tales of the Knights of the Round Table stories!
