I was somewhat overwhelmed by the reaction to my comments on 365 motivation yesterday... it helps enormously to know that many of you have the same dilemma. Mrs S summed it up rather neatly I thought with her comment, "Long live integrity".
So for the second day of my new regime, I took my macro lens for a walk down the lane and into the fields beyond. The banks of one of the fields of winter wheat were white with hundreds of little wild flowers. When I got up close, I was amazed to see how delicately pretty these little blooms are. To give you an idea of scale, the diameter of each bloom is about 2 cm - perhaps someone could tell me what they are.
Great detail. Such a unique image. Fav for me. I agree it is easy to get caught up in the energy of this process - easy to lose sight of what feels really good first and foremost..
@tigerdreamer It was windy when I took this Karen: I put the AF on continuous focussing and took shots in bursts of three... I had at least one sharp image in each group. Give it a try.
Nice macro. The sharpness is incredible. My DOF is usually tiny, especially because flowers tend to move around in the wind. My AF is on continuous too... I can't help you with the species. I don't recognise the double petals.
@laetitiapetrussa Hello Laetitia - I found the answer locally - Mrs S tells me that this is Stitchwort. It's had a busy 24 hours because today I'm finding it in all the ditches and hedgerows around us - the butterflies are making the most of it this morning.
It is amazing what you can't see that your macro lens can. I love taking macro shots just for this reason. This is a beautiful shot Richard and well composed but the one thing that keeps distracting me is the green at top left of the photo. I would have removed that so that I wouldn't be distracted by it. Just my opinion of course. Hope you don't mind me saying. I love it anyway. Fav
@shepherdmanswife Well Chantal, you wouldn't believe how long I spent deliberating that 'green blob' and the white one at bottom left. I tried taking them out but the image looked a bit bare as though it was taken in a studio rather than in-situ. In the end, I darkened them both as much as I could without artefacts appearing and settled for that. Thanks for your comments - I'm always open to constructive comment - there isn't enough of it on here.
Seems to me that this will have mass appeal Richard! It is a superb macro and what can I do but fav it? Its the pollen that does it for me, especially the unfocussed bits! :-)
you're not trying to out tart Mr S @graemestevens are you
