A dozen or so years ago, whilst on a walk along the cliffs of the south coast of Brittany, Mrs S collected a few scraps of wild geranium and planted them in the garden - now anywhere that is not attacked regularly with blunt instruments is infested with them! One place we don't mind them is on the bank opposite the front of the house where they are much prettier than the weeds that would otherwise grow there.
This time of year these plants throb with a low buzzing sound as it's a favourite gathering place for all the local bees - here's one busy at work this morning. After a hundred shots or so I gave up trying to get a sharp image of him in flight and settled for this one.
Fantastic close up. I made the mistake of planting raspberries once. They took over and then I moved. Amazing details on this busy bee. He looks quite content, though!
It's a great shot. I have that plant too, from a friend's yard. They're very hardy here too, but I'm still waiting for them to fill in a large hillside.
This is a beautifully detailed shot of the bee amongst those wonderful colours.
It takes much time, patience and observation to photograph the bees - I am improving but still learning
Bees don't like being photographed, Richard, that's why they keep moving! I have some sympathy with them! But when do we actually ever see a bee in sharp focus? So this is a realistic shot - 'camera verity', is that what we should call it?
I agree with Joan, better you than me!
Nice shot and God bless the bees.
