Abbaye de Bon Repos at Saint-Gelven, Brittany 2

Thank you for your comments and Favs on yesterday's image. I deliberated for a long time between the colour version I posted and a B&W treatment. I still feel that this building looks good in B&W so here's a B&W capture of this lovely old building from a different viewpoint. Please look at yesterday's post for the full background information on this 12th C Abbey

Viewing on black is good...
Looks great on Black!

The textures of the buildings, sky, water and foliage are even more evident on black. Both versions are fascinating... no wonder you struggle between the two.

This monochrome and tighter focus has a totally different feel and aspect. The emphasis is more on the building and it's tones and texture, not quite the same pastoral feeling, even the clouds. more drama. well done Richard

excellent b&w and composition, it has a 19th Century feel to it

Wonderful in b&w and it really pops on black

So interesting to see how the color to b&w changes the mood. It also brings out the textures much more strongly.

Textures and shapes show more strongly in this b&w.

It looks huge Richard
I like the b&w but something about the colours in the surrounding scenery seems to complement the architecture

Very impressive shot!

I'll take this, the less pretty version, Richard! B/W leaves so much more to the imagination!

Very nice.

Awesome B&W... I can spot your images now with reasonable consistency as they are always so well done. I too like the B&W version for what it's worth. Fav!
