NF-SOOC-2015 Day 16: Seen down an alleyway... by vignouse

NF-SOOC-2015 Day 16: Seen down an alleyway...

... in Dieulefit this afternoon. Unfotunately, I didn't take sufficient care to make sure that I was square on to the alley... it's hard this SOOC stuff!

This is my sixteenth image for NF-SOOC-2015 - you can read about it here - http://365project.org/discuss/themes-competitions/26200/back-to-basics-nf-sooc-2015
Nicely position to see that light and good settings - the alley is not too dark and you can still see beyond clearly!

I always like a good alley shot! This is a lovely look down towards the light at the end.

Very interesting shot of the alley.

very nice shot! I completely understand the regret of getting the images up and realizing it wasn't exactly what you thought, but I think this PoV works quite nicely.

Great pov. I like the patterns in the stones.

I admire you're still doing this as I've given up. SOOC is hard anyway, then with the 50mm constraint. You're doing great! I think this image work well -- love the long line into the scene.

I would guess it is really hard, I might try it for a while once I've done my Prague stuff! I don't see anything wrong with this, in fact I love the view beyond the arch a lot.

Like this alley Shot

@rleidner @taffy @dibzgreasley Thanks all for your encouragement - I have no intention of stopping... indeed it's precisely for this sort of learning that I decided to redo the challenge again this year. With this image, had I been processing, I would have cropped off the bottom... but it still wouldn't have been square, just less obvious! I need to take more care about framing my images and this exercise has highlighted that and other faults too. Hard is good - after all, nothing worthwhile is achieved in this life without the expenditure of a little effort ;-))

Like this, but only heaps. The leading lines; the weathered marks on the passage walls; the browsingness of the couple; the man with a mission; 3 shades of green of the differing foliage; the lamp; the pops of azure; all the houses. My eye is seduced to look for more when the view is so concentrated through the passage. Bravo!

France is beautiful ;-)

When "I take a shot like this I often only get the arch almost too bright and black where the alley is. So I am just impressed that you got the alley and don't see the unsquared view.

@joansmor One of the benefits of 'back-button' focussing which separates the functions of focus acquisition and exposure setting: I focussed on the couple and then picked up the exposure (with a half-press of the shutter button as usual) from the cobbles in front of them. Even so the dynamic range of the scene is too wide for a single image as the people are left in semi-silhouette, which I actually quite like.

This was actually a grab shot as, on its own, the alleyway is not that interesting but I spotted the people as I passed and had to work quickly before they moved too much: I took three shots of which this is the best... and the squarest!

@vignouse I think I have the back button but forget about it. I used to use it a lot in my film days. Going to have to check it out. Thanks.
