I was out walking around the outskirts of Dieulefit this afternoon when I spotted the patterns made by the shadows of the trees in the park (out of shot on the left) on the buildings on the other side of the street, so I took a few shots.
I liked the results but felt that something was lacking - I needed a passer-by to add interest. I resolved to wait a while as nobody was in sight on that side of the road... then suddenly, a lady with a dog came out of the alley-way and turned right. I raised the camera quickly to my eye and got a couple of shots off and congratulated myself on my quick reactions. There was an unexpected bonus as the 'lady' in question turned out to be Mrs S walking Mitzi. My delight was a bit short-lived though as on examining the pic more closely, I realised that some pedestrians on the left pavement had just intruded into the image. Once again I had failed to take adequate care when framing the image... normally I would do a slight crop, but not this month ;-(
I like the image so I'm posting anyway... but I really must train my eye to go round the edges of the frame before pressing the button!
It's a nice shot, and you can always make a copy and crop away! I'm certainly learning to be more attentive by participating with you, but with so many things to think about, I'll always lose some!
I am loving the stories you are telling about your photographic trials and tribulations this month. Shame about the people on the left but I was transfixed by the shadows on the right anyway, they are so beautiful.
Love the shadows on the buildings.
...I didn't know he was there! We'd gone out separately. R to take photos and me to walk with Mitzi. A chance encounter.
