Pontivy was founded on the River Blavet in 685AD by an English monk, Ivy, who built a wooden bridge over the river - Pont d'Ivy. Today it's quaint medieval streets are usually filled with tourists in search of sustenance or bargains in the many bars, restaurants and boutiques.... happily I managed to capture this street at a quiet time at the end of the afternoon.
Are there a lot of towns where cars don't go in certain areas because of the narrow streets. So fascinating how closely built the buildings are from such a long time ago when there would have been lots of space. Fascinating too how they have used bright colors to attract the buyers since all the building are the same kind of neutral. I will never get to Europe but I am seeing it vicariously on 365 and often neat little areas I probably wouldn't visit if I did go. Thanks for showing me France in such wonderful views like this.
Looks lovely, and I can just see it teeming with throngs of tourists!! You must have gotten up fairly early to capture this scene, just as the shopkeepers were putting out their wares!! Love it!! FAV!
