This is an image from our recent few days away that I like too much to leave languishing on a hard-disk in cyber-space. It's a view of Rue Ernest Renan, Tréguier which leads from the quay up into the old quarter of the town.
@wordpixman Thanks Arthur; I first spotted her from about 200 metres away as she was looking in the window of the blue and white shop. As she turned to move off, I legged it across the road to capture the shot but she was already some way up the hill... for an old lady she moved surprisingly fast!
I love the pov and color in this. It was very obliging of the old lady to wear red everything (coat, hat, purse, umbrella)! Adds a special touch to the picture!
Beautiful, colorful shot Richard! I really like this. The houses are charming but perhaps not as much as she, with her red attire (and her apparently fast little walk)!
Oh, these are the places I see in my head when I say I want to go out on a photo drive. So quaint, peaceful, colorful, and interesting. Thanks for giving my imagination a new image to dream about.
I love this. This Lady in Red reminds of Nanny McPhee, the nanny played by Emma Thompson in the film of the same name. When the 7 children start to behave, she creates astonishing things and joy and pleasure ensue.
So, what's my connection? Whilst we can't see this lady's face, I almost know it will be benign, spreading red joy where 'ere she walks. For me, very subtlety, she's painting the the town red. Star lady *****.
@s4sayer for me she is the little girl in the red cost in Shindler's List. She survived the war and though born in Poland, settled here in Treguier. She never mentioned the horror of her childhood. But always wears a red coat.
@jack4john@s4sayer You know John,I hesitated over whether to post this in B&W or colour but in the end I went for colour because I wanted to keep that red coat. Now I don't like selective colour because I find it too gimmicky, but I confess that, for a brief instant, I flirted with the idea of doing just the old lady in colour. But apart from my own personal feelings about SC, I rejected the idea out of respect for Schindler's little girl, so you can imagine my delight at your suggestion that it was indeed her... thank you.
