Vieux Rennes by vignouse

Vieux Rennes

This is the old quarter of Rennes - a great fire in 1720 destroyed all the timber framed houses in the northern part of the city but the city-centre itself escaped the worst of the blaze. All of the buildings in this image were built at the beginning of the the 16C and, apart from the bollards to prevent car-parking - this scene looks pretty much the same today as it would have done 500 years ago.

@joansmor These buildings are 500 years old... I will be more than a little crooked if I live a fifth of that ;-))

Marvellous, I don't think there will be much of here left in 500 years.

Interesting old architecture. I wonder if they are a crooked on the inside as the outside timbers are.

As I've said before I love these old buildings, so I thought I'd stop here and make a comment. Hope you are well Richard. I like the sound of your project this year. You are so focused!
