Well here we are on the last day of the year and the end of my fourth year on 365. I'm still feeling under the weather from my accident and I honestly don't know whether I will be here for another year or not. I'm feeling that my photography has stagnated of late so maybe a break is in order... but breaks often become permanent and I'm not sure that I want that either... I look forward, with you, to finding out tomorrow what I've decided.
I sort of ran out of gas a couple of years ago, went away, and regretted it...came back. I enjoy just floating in and out as my pho-jo moves me. I hope you find a comfortable groove that works for you. Your first order of business has to be healing and taking time for yourself anyway, so maybe just dialing things back for a while will work for you. Wishing you a speedy and complete recovery.
This is a beautiful b&w image. Richard if I might chime in with my thoughts on your dilemma of staying or leaving. Maybe a break until you heal up and then return. Or, just post as you feel like it. I really enjoy yours and Mrs. S's photos. Wishing you and Mrs. S a healthy, healing 2018?
oh no I can't imagine 365 without your images and humour - get your mojo back please and stay, even if you don't post every day, stay just a little bit longer!
Since this is your project, you can design it any way you want. I'm afraid that when my phojo goes down, if I'd quit I wouldn't come back. I enjoy this site as much for fellowship as for learning. You are a good mentor and I would miss your photos. Hope you feel better soon. Happy New Year!
Diana has just read of your injuries and feelings of stagnation. I am instructed to say that she is enjoying your images and hopes you will be able to continue...! I agree with her of course! But, no pressure! Take your time... its 50/50 whether a break will be final or the addiction has become so strong that you'll never leave! As you may have noticed I have taken lots of breaks.. it can take a few months or only a few days for me to feel refreshed. Mid winter and I don't get on too well but I see some cheer in this shot.. I like bare trees.. there is some deeper significance too.
Keep going Richard not just for yourself but for all those who enjoy and take inspiration from your images.
Lovely countryside and hopefully amazing light
Sorry to hear of your accident but I too have had double bunk adventures on a ferry. I gallantly offered to take the upper bunk as I was sharing a cabin with a very fragile looking old lady on the ferry from Melbourne to Tasmania. She too was nice and fixed my ladder to my bunk - unfortunately not in the right place, so when I returned late at night and climbed the ladder in the dark cabin it fell and I ended up in bed with the old lady (who perhaps was no older than I am now)! Apart from totally scaring the wits out of each other, no damage was done. I hope you heal quickly.
Richard I am sorry to hear about your accident, I know what you mean about feeling stagnated; I have not been posting regularly just not inspired
and tired of shooting the same things, I hope you keep posting and commenting since I enjoy your posts and comments. Even if it is not every day. I hope you recover from your injuries soon and have a great year
@jeneurell Ah Jennifer, you brought a much needed smile to my face - thank you! You also reminded me that perhaps 20 years ago when they still allowed people to take overnight crossings without a cabin we were caught in a Force 11 gale. Two lorry drivers and I sat with the barman drinking whisky and taking turns to hold the bottle - everyone else had retired. Later, I wobbled my way back to the cabin (the storm not the whisky) and approached a Pakistani family - Father, three children and Mother - lying in sleeping bags in a line outside the duty-free shop. Just as I was about to pass them, the boat gave a mighty lurch making me stagger to my left and fall full length across their middles whereupon all five sat up in unison and screamed as one!
