Paimpont is the second largest commune in Brittany and the sixth largest in France based on surface area, but there are only 1675 inhabitants compared with around 4500 in 1620 AD. Well, there are 1675 human inhabitants but considerably more cows, sheep, pigs, chickens etc. The biggest population group by a huge margin though is that of the trees! Out of a total surface area of 110 sq kilometres, 70 sq kilometres are covered by forest... so if my album this year is going to represent the commune fairly - you're going to see a lot of trees. (The mix is roughly 50/50 evergreens, as here, and deciduous varieties.)
oh yes, finally somewhere that has the mix right - the air must be benefitting from all the trees. I hope you find it enjoyable to work with these as your subject material for the year - I'm looking forward to it!
Excellent point -- we can't discount the rest of those living beings at Paimpont such as animals and trees -- especially not the trees. They're bigger than us by a good deal, so you'd want to stay on their good side.
I like the detail that viewing on black emphasizes. I also think this could make a really interesting pano focused wide on all the lower trunks and the grasses -- great contrast of lines/tone/texture there.
