Vignouse is not just my 365 user name, it's also where I live. It's too small to be a hamlet so it's known as a 'Lieu Dit' (normally shortened to LD)... literally ' the place called'. Originally it comprised three small homes/smallholdings dating from the early 18thC. One of the the three has been partially demolished - the remains are hidden behind the tree. The right-hand house is ours and we also own the remains of the ruined house.
This photograph was taken looking north during some unseasonal late afternoon sun.
@vignouse There's a peacefulness about your scene that makes me think of Beaver Island longingly...but not to complain at all about my view which I totally love.
how interesting! it's wonderful to know that history and be living among it I'm sure. you are going to find so many interesting things to present to us in photograph and narrative this year, I can feel it already!
Beautiful composition - I really like the dotted line on the road, great contrast to the almost pastoral scene. I love to travel these types of locations. Gorgeous!
this view is almost similar to a place southwest of toronto going to lake erie. so peaceful and quiet. it would make a good opening for a movie. why not take a self portrait and participate in this week's five plus two? :-)
A lovely country place. Has your home/land been in your family for many generations? How close is the town where you go to meet your friends and go to church?
This is a splendid tree...and when I’m coming home in the car, said tree marks the spot where I indicate to turn Into our lane. This is a lovely place to live.
@randystreat Thanks Kathy - we bought the house as not much more than 4 walls and a roof in 1989 and have lived here permanently since 2001. Paimpont village itself (250 inhabitants) is 3.5 km due south from us.
@houser934 Thanks Kathryn - the nearest house to us (other than the one in the picture) is about 300 metres away; there are some more isolated houses in the vicinity but further away still.
I have been trying to put my finger on why this could not be a landscape from the South of France. I think it must be the hedge alongside the road, and also the houses with white walls and slate roofs.
The walls are in fact yellow and red granite... I always knew that we were truly approaching the south when the house walls changed to white- washed stucco and the roofs to red terra-cotta tiles ;-))
@dibzgreasley Thanks Debs - actually the name of where we live is, in full, "LD Vignouse" ... The Place called Vignouse. To that you only have to add a 6 character post-code for post to reach us from anywhere in the world.
That's amazing and so very cool!
