Mrs S is a great aficionado of rummage sales, car-boot sales - whatever you want to call them and over many years of finding 'little treasures', she has built up a collection of Jersey-ware Jugs... of which these are just a small selection.
Knowing nothing about Jersey ware jugs, took solace with Google and didn't see any like these. These 11 jugs (the rest are out of shot) collected by my mother and then me, are the fruit of our joint passion for frequenting secondhand stalls, charity shops etc. in the sure and certain belief that we'd find something interesting and/or quirky. More often than not, we did.
With the exception of the lighter coloured floral jug, far right, this motley collection is all a rich deep bronze colour, decorated in a glossy paler shade. None of them having marking of provenance and I suspect they were perhaps copies of the 'real McCoy'. I like them as much as anything else because they are a fond reminder of my mother who died almost 6 years ago, age 93. @vignouse
