A Year of Days: Day 120 - Sheltering from the Rain
Once again I arrived at the end of the day without a diary picture: I found no inspiration indoors and it was pouring with rain outdoors. Finally I dashed out just before midnight and was amused to see this hellebore bloom giving shelter to some kind of insect - kindred spirits trying to dodge the raindrops.
But is it like the turtle who carried the scorpion across the river and at the scorpion had to be a scorpion and stunk the turtle. A flower may be just to tasty to resist.
Interesting shot as it captures this Christmas Rose with its (mostly) white petals, 4 months after it first came into bloom. The fruit of its cycle is now forming and as it segues to green petals and then to loss of colour, the foliage, not present in Winter, provides drama until Autumn.
A wonderful flower with charitable intent.
