I spread my photographic net a little wider today - this is the village store in the small town of Gaël about 10 km north of us. With the possible exception of the Viveco signs, it's probably not changed much in appearance in the last 100 years and is typical of stores you will find in villages and towns all over France. It's closed because today is a public holiday in Europe - Labour Day.
The corner store or village store as you call it. Plays a important role in our memories. I remember buying penny candy at ours when I was a kid. It's an apartment house now. Often used to be an apartment over it or behind it.
What a lovely townhouse it would be without all the gas and commercial gubbins. Whilst the stonework is everything we expect in this neck of the woods, I imagine it's scarcely noticed by pedestrians.
