..a good friend brought me an old motorcyle as an unexpected present today and while I was taking some photos of it, I caught sight of myself in the rear-view mirror.
Love your selfie. Boy check it off this week for both of us. I have seen this done in rear views that weren't nearly as well done. Also notice we have similar get-pushed challenges. Mine is to shoot textures.
@joansmor Thanks Joan, and for interest this was taken with a 35mm prime lens open at f2.0... check out the out-of-focus background and the sharpness of the image in the mirror!
@vignouse I may not have mentioned the background but I did notice and that is why it is better than others I have seen. I waiver between wanting a prime and wanting a longer zoom range. Right now money needs to go for a new roof.
@joansmor Sod the roof - get a new lens... dammit, get two then pray for a storm and let the insurance pay for the replacement roof. (Sorry - I'm going to bed now!)
@northy Yeah, I'm made away with the bike: it's a 30+ year old Suzuki GN400. the chrome work has suffered a bit over the years but it has only 6000 miles on the clock and ran fine when it was last started 2 years ago. I need to give it a thorough clean and complete service and then we'll see.
I read something recently - a photographer was eating at the home of a chef, The chef seeing the photographers equipment commented that with such equipment it was no wonder he took great pictures. The photographer didn't say anything at that point. After a great meal which the chef had prepared the photography said to him, "This as a terrific meal you must have some superb pots and pans." So I will learn with what I have (even if I do yearn for more sometimes). I feel that right now someone could say with such great equipment is this the best you can do. I hope this story wasn't one you told. And thanks for you humor in answering me.
@kporte Absolutely! I did try flipping the photo so it read properly but it did my head in looking at it - it didn't feel right at all, so I went with this one
