Very cool processing!

Oh, good I was worried you had come upon some really weird shaped chickens. Adds a whole new meaning to hanging your neck out.

Great capture,a Richard. I love the expression on the hen's face -- I don't think she needs to be warned -- she obviously knows all about that rooster!

This is wonderful, love the warm tones in the feathers and how the red parts stand out. Fav.

Cool. Grunge chickens. Their expressions are priceless, and the photo's aptly named.

What a mixed bag of 'beauties'. Great shot.

Has a sort of classic Rembrandt like feel to it - until you see the expressions and the slightly featherless one at the back. Great photo.

I too like the dark but textured background and it does have the feel of an old masters painting. Fav.

Very curious shot, I really like your processing. It's kinda gothic to me.

@fishers @gamelee @doy @edie Hi all - lots of you have commented about the dark background. These chickens were in a lean-to shelter which was already rather sombre and the left side of the picture contains a pile of paving slabs, a slotted iron drain-cover and a pair of old rubber boots! I choose to darken the left background to hide these distractions but that would have left the tonal balance seriously compromised... So I choose to reduce all the background and highlight the chickens. It was a practical decision but I'm more than happy with the result ;-)
