PLAY January - Nikon 50mm f/1.4G: Impressionist Trees

The 50mm lens (on a 35mm camera) has long been regarded as a 'do-it-all' lens so as part of my month of posting exclusively with this focal length, I wanted to showcase some of this versatility.

During a trawl of the internet looking for articles on technique, I found myself reading an article exhorting photographers to put more 'soul' into their images by photographing not what they see, but what they feel.

This image is my attempt to capture what I feel when I walk through the forest and look up to see the dizzying height of some of the pine trees... I should probably stick to my day job ;-))

This is for my PLAY project - you can read more about it in my profile - where I'll be using a different prime lens for each month of the year: in January it's the Nikon 50mm f/1.4G on a full-frame camera (the D610 today).
Faerie like, most impwessive.

I like your impressionist trees, nicely done.

Well it is at least a different take on this kind of shot.

I see the same thing. Thank you :)

I get it. Nice to try something different too. Cool capture.

It's not terrible at all; more interesting than just pine trees, likely. And the job of the camera is to enable; so this is true to that ethic.

Last, but not least: a must fav!

Like the dreamy quality but I might humbly make a suggestion- color, gentle of course. I also like the idea to capture what you are feeling and let the emotional fairies lead the way.

@joysabin Well thank you... but if you look carefully, you will see that this is a colour image - it was a very dull day with little contrast so it's perhaps not immediately obvious.

@vignouse Oops, need to close the blinds, the glare on my screen.

Interessing new impressionist approach. I need to try as well.
