PLAY January - Nikon 50mm f/1.4G: Rain Coming In

Paimpont lake tonight as the wind got up and the rain clouds rolled in from the west. I didn't trust myself at dusk to do a panorama hand-held so I choose to do this letter-box crop instead.

This is for my PLAY project - you can read more about it in my profile - where I'll be using a different prime lens for each month of the year: in January it's the Nikon 50mm f/1.4G on a full-frame camera (the D610 today).

More drama viewed on black!
No mistaking the on coming storm.

Threatening clouds and waves captured well.

Marvelous feel of mystery here and the detail is lovely too.

It looks like the little boat decided it would be safer to weather the storm on the dock instead of in the water.

So well balanced -- the boat seems to be safely up on a pier, but there doesn't seem to be much to keep it from floating off.

Awesome!

@taffy Well it's a lake that's fed with run-off water only so the level doesn't change rapidly... plus, what isn't evident it's true, is that the dock itself is floating :-))

Same clouds as down here in the antipodes today.

VML the simulataneous weather activities here. As storm clouds squeeze the sun from the sky, the forest remains stoic, sensing trauma; the narrow shore has no defense; the lake is choppy with anxiety for the dock; the sedge has withered and no bird sings.

love the sky in this very dramatic

although a storm is on the horizon, it's still such a calming image
