The Cobb, Lyme Regis by 365projectmaxine

The Cobb, Lyme Regis

The harbour wall is called The Cobb, and was built as a breakwater to protect ships and the town. It was first mentioned in 1294 but was probably built before that. It features in Jane Austen's 'Persuasion', and of course in John Fowles' 'The French Lieutenant's Woman'.

How cool to see this in real life! A nice shot, too, with the curving wall surrounding the boats in the harbour and under the bright sun! Fav
