One of top items on my bucket list was to take fire works shots over opera house and harbour bridge. Every NYE there are awesome fireworks over these icons but it is so crowded there is no chance of setting up a tripod or a good view without camping from early morning.
Yesterday I stumbled across these fireworks while out with family. These must have been for a private function (yes it happens often but not made public) and apart from us, there were perhaps 3 more people at this spot. It was amazing to be able to just sit, relax and see these without having to jostle with a million people.
Cheating a bit from the B&W challenge but this is partially B&W
Oh wow how lucky you were!! I always each Sydney's NYE fireworks on tv they look amazing! This shot is fantastic love the how the water is lit up too...big fave for me:)
Wow, that is really amazing. You should see if you can sell it to Sydney tourism board, or something. What have you done in your processing? It is so remarkably clear. Fav
Stunning.... Although now you've made me want to see fireworks there too! Asking to actually find room for a tripod and capture it is probably asking too much if it's that challenging for you and you don't live halfway around the world!
I always love the smell of fireworks. We once set the fence on fire at home, and then made a boring boyfriend out it out. (Not mine!). Our neighbours were pretty cool about the fact we nearly burnt the terrace down. Now we have ponies the fireworks parties happen elsewhere - like here!
@ozziehoffy I entered a couple of shots already. Entered another shot from that night. Was going to enter this one but not sure what made me enter the other one. Now I regret it a little bit :(
@ozziehoffy Thanks
I like your shots. They are very nice. However, I think they need not be taken at night or be night shots. I think they just need to imply darkness. Thinking among those lines, I really like your mask shot from yesterday. To me it represents Phantom of the opera and that's definately after dark... :-)
wowzers! i LOVE the Opera House and what a fabulous shot. I have been their once, but boy, would I love to see it again showered in fireworks! Your lucky day ended up being all of ours too :-)
This is one of the most visually stunning images I have ever seen! Many congrats on getting number 2 for the week, although I would have given you number 1. FAV and follow.
This is spectacular. You were definitely prepared for this rare opportunity. I traveled for over 24 hours to stand near Hickson Road Reserve to see the Sydney Opera House and take a few snap shots. I certainly didn't behold what you did. Thanks for capturing the moment.
thanks :)
@pocketmouse yes. There were two lots. One closer to middle head around 10 and then these just behind the opera house at around 10.30
Thanks everyone for the vews and favs :-)

Fireworks are so wonderful on their own, but in this shot, well they're a sing'in.
Thanks everyone for the favs and comments :-)
