Your aperture is wide open so you do have a very narrow focus range - probably because of the low light situation. You could adjust your ISO higher for the low light and also slow down your shutter speed a bit to compensate and that would close the aperture so you can get a better focus.
@farmreporter thanks Wendy yes it makes sense. I'm holding the little one by one hand and camera on the other so it was hard to make any changes and the autofocus focused on her chick. Yes i will give it a try closing the aperture.
@farmreporter Hi Wendy I tried the picture again, this time I changed the focus point to where I thought the eyes of the baby were going to be, I still left a wide aperture because I like the shallow depth of field and the amount of light that lets in to avoid grain with a higher ISO. http://365project.org/adi314/365/2017-03-16
