I took it without asking, I should have asked and made him look at me, he had piercing blue eyes
Been there, done that. It takes guts to ask first and I don’t have ‘em often enough. Really like the gritty look.

If we ask for permission before photography, we rarely get good results. When they notice it I'll show the photo and if I do not like it, I'll delete it.

Asking always spoils the thing that drew you to want the capture in the first place. But not asking seems rude. It is such a difficult area. I really admire those who are doing the portraits of stranger project and finding out something about the strangers along the way. This is an excellent portrait.
