I saw this adorable toddler in his denim overalls in Central Park with his daddy. I found myself people watching a lot in NYC. And shooting them when they were doing anything particularly interesting or cute. I got tons of people, mostly kids. I guess that I was missing mine without realizing it.
I think that this candid may be my favorite shot from the whole trip. It took me awhile to put it up because processing it took some work. This was an instance where I had to go with SC. Color was meh, b&w lost the cuteness of the denim. SC was just right...sorry for you haters out there:).
Great shot and love the SC which I normally don't like. I like how you got his full shadow in the frame as well. It looks like you had a great time in NYC.
@michaelelliott Thanks!:) I told Adam that it was taken by this awesome photographer with an awesome photographer brother. Thanks for giving me the image.
Instant fav, Amanda! Love this little boy. How lucky to be in NYC to do street photography. I simply can't get away with it in my tiny bedroom community of 3,000 people or I'll be known as the town paparazzi! :)
Wow, this really is a fabulous shot! The blue is perfect, what a wonderful candid. All your photos from your NYC trip are amazing. Sounds like you had an incredible trip. Thank you so much for the kind words and encouragement, I am going to push through this slump!! Fav.
I like your take on NYC! The people are indeed fascinating - I always like looking at all the shoes on the Subway. Funny. You've captured your personal experience of NYC beautifully - there's a wonder and appreciation of diversity in your images ... at least that's what these eyes see.
@still_beachradish I really appreciate your comments, sweet lady. Yes, I loved the people. So many different kinds. I would love living there for a season, though my camera would explode!
I can see why this would be a favourite - it is a beautiful shot - the toddler exploring with dad protectively following behind - a fav for me - and the SC was definitely the right choice
Do you feel uneasy taking photos of stranger's kids? I've never had the nerve to do it. "Hey, why're you takin' a picture of my kid!!"
Ok, so I'm chicken. LOL
This makes me want to go to NYC and visit my friend and her boy!! Gah. Wish she didn't live so far away. What a cutie patootie you captured, After not being sure with that little girl whether to go b&w or color, you decided to split the difference, eh? :-) The SC really works well here!
@pasadenarose Yes, but I've gotten braver. It helps being a non threatening looking woman, I think. I wish I got this daddy's contact info or gave him mine so that I could share the shot!
Brilliant shot, Amanda! It has that something special. Love the shadow and use of SC is perfect. Your NYC shots are all fab. Have enjoyed seeing the city through your eyes. Fav
@amandal I was excited to see it there. I feel like I am starting all over again after taking two weeks break from posting to enjoy my holiday. I have less people looking at my photos than at the start of the project.
@darsphotos Thanks so much for the words and fav, my friend. Have a blast in SF tomorrow. Wish I could come!!
@pflaume I felt the same way about all of your DC shots awhile back. So nice to get a feel for another place. Thanks so much for those kind words and fav, Miss Lisa!!
@snaggy Thank you for the fav, Kev. This one was so special to me. Wish I had gotten the daddy's contact info so I could share this image. Haven't gotten brave enough to do that yet.
I want to thank you all so much for your great comments on this shot. It truly was one of my favorites of all of the many hundreds that I took last weekend. I really wish I had been brave enough to approach the father and give him my email so that I could have given him the image. This one made it up on PP today for about 5 minutes, too:). It's better than nothing, I guess:).
@amrita21 Thank you so much for your comment. So so glad that my joy was coming through in these shots. Seriously had some of the best days in my life (minus the wedding and births of my kiddos). Not much makes me happier than seeing new things and taking photos. Oh to get paid for it somehow!
@edie Thank you so much, Edie. I seriously LOVED this shot. Couldn't believe that I captured it. I don't know how I would feel if someone came up and started shooting photos of my kids, though. So wished that I had given the dad my email as I would love him to have this sweet photo.
@bill_fe I just loved loved this kid. And his dad wasn't a creeper or bothered by me either. The dad in the shot today was a total creepery looking guy so I cut his head off;-). Thanks for the kind comments and fav.
@jaynspain Thanks so much for the sweet comments and fav, Jayn!!
